Chart of the week | EV charging – who’s in the driving seat?

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) raised a modification to the Smart Energy Code (SEC) on 21 February. This has the potential to have some profound impacts on the EV charging sector.

In this week’s Chart of the week, Ed Reed discusses the raised modification. The proposal is to allow Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) to issue commands to EV smart chargers. This will be done via smart metering communication infrastructure and will curtail charging where there is a risk of overloading the low voltage circuits.
