For more than a decade the number of active licensed energy suppliers has been increasing, slowly at first but dozens a year more recently. This year though that number has tipped in to decline as companies such as Flow Energy, Iresa and Affect Energy have for different reasons left the market.
Declining numbers does mean declining innovation or value from investors attracted by quality businesses as our recent event for Cornwall Insight customers, Picking winners, valuation drivers in energy supply, addressed. Over 60 industry, investor and advisory professionals attended to hear original insight and research from our experts. Many of these insights were drawn from our market intelligence reports and supplier market share survey and will be reviewed in detail in next Monday’s edition of Energy Spectrum. Energy Spectrum is the weekly point for comment and analysis on the British energy sector, from policy to production and networks to retail.
