Cornwall Insight in the news | August 2019

We are proud that our experts are regularly featured in the media and news stories on a variety of topics across the energy sector. Here are just a few places we have been mentioned this August.

The blackout was a dominate feature in the news and our Senior Modeller Tom Edwards was quoted in the Financial Times, The Guardian, The Times, Carbon Brief, Bloomberg, The Daily Mirror, Natural Gas World, Energy Voice, Renewable Energy World, City AM, Current News, Money Week and Infrastructure Investor. Tom said that “Frequency is deviating more to the left and right of 50 hertz than it was before and that is because the system is more volatile, and it is more challenging to balance it.”

Tom Lusher’s thoughts on the unprecedented scale of collaboration between major automakers is unprecedented, was featured in Business Green, Fleet World, Current News, EV Fleet World, Everything EV, PV Magazine, Smart Energy International and World Energy.

Following the Ofgem’s announcement on the price cap dropping by £75 from October 1St Cornwall Insight’s forecast shows that the cap will rise again if wholesale prices remain the same. This story was featured in The Times, Smart Energy International, Financial Times, City Am and BBC News

Our story on network charging dampening Scottish renewables was featured in Smart Energy International, Energy Reporters, Energy Voice, Electrical Review and The National. James Brabben commented that “the significant amounts of generation in Northern Scotland are located away from areas of demand further south. This contributed to a much higher Transmission Network Use of System (TNUoS) bill for projects in the region.”
