The Sunday Times | End of the energy start-up frenzy as 86 licences revoked

Our story highlighting 23% of the cheapest suppliers exiting the market since 2017 was featured in The Sunday Times.

Nearly a quarter of suppliers that had offered cut-price gas or electricity tariffs had gone out of business, and suppliers that had left the market did so an average of 16 months after being among the top 10 cheapest deals.

Kate Hill explained that although there would be a myriad of reasons that would have caused each exit, many of these companies are likely to have experienced cashflow issues, which will have been heightened by very cheap tariffs that were on offer.
