The Times | Thousands of jobs go as energy firm Npower is swallowed by rival

Robert Buckley Head of Retail and Relationship development was quoted by The Times about the merger of Npower by Eon.

Npower is one of the “Big Six” suppliers that have dominated the sector for a decade and a half, after inheriting most of their customers through privatisation. As recently as 2013, the six — British Gas, SSE, Eon, EDF, Npower and Scottish Power — supplied about 98 per cent of households.

Npower had a combination of high costs as it struggled to implement a new IT system and the squeeze from the price cap that was harder for Npower than for some of the other suppliers.
